A comprehensive overview of Dubai's top golf courses, covering which have hosted professional tour events, which are built to championship standard, and what full golf course view 6-bedroom villas cost across each community.

What makes a course a championship course?

The term "championship course" is used widely in Dubai real estate and golf marketing, but it is worth understanding what it actually means. There is no official governing body that certifies or awards the title. In practice, the term is used in two distinct ways.

Tour-hosting courses are those that have staged significant professional events on the DP World Tour, Asian Tour, or equivalent. These courses have been formally assessed and selected by a tour organisation, prepared to elite tournament conditioning, and tested by the world's best players. This is the strictest and most credible definition.

Championship-standard courses are 18-hole layouts designed by world-renowned architects, built to a specification capable of hosting professional competition, but not currently on an active tour rotation. These are genuine world-class facilities, and the distinction simply reflects tournament history rather than quality of design or conditioning.

With that context, Dubai's major golf courses fall clearly into one of these two tiers.

Dubai's golf courses by tier

Tier 1: Tour-hosting championship courses

These four courses have hosted official DP World Tour or equivalent professional tour events. They represent the highest tier of championship golf in Dubai.

1

Jumeirah Golf Estates — Earth Course

Designed by Greg Norman  ·  Par 72, 7,706 yards  ·  Dubai Production City

18-hole championship DP World Tour Championship — annual host since 2009

The Earth Course is Dubai's most prestigious tournament venue, hosting the DP World Tour Championship — the Race to Dubai season finale — every November since 2009. Inspired by the great parkland courses of Europe and North America, it features meticulously manicured fairways, striking white bunkers, and a dramatic water-lined closing stretch. Widely regarded as the finest championship venue in the Middle East, the course record of 62 is held by Justin Rose from the 2012 DP World Tour Championship.

2

Jumeirah Golf Estates — Fire Course

Designed by Greg Norman  ·  Par 72, 7,480 yards  ·  Dubai Production City

18-hole championship Golf in Dubai Championship 2020  ·  AVIV Dubai Championship 2021

Often overshadowed by its celebrated sibling, the Fire Course has its own professional tournament pedigree. It hosted the European Tour's Golf in Dubai Championship in 2020 and the AVIV Dubai Championship in 2021, with Andy Sullivan setting the course record of 61 during the first round of the 2020 event. Designed with a rugged links-style desert aesthetic that directly contrasts Earth's parkland character, it features undulating fairways, terracotta bunkers, native grasses, and sloping greens that demand precise course management. Both Earth and Fire are the first Greg Norman designs in the Gulf region.

3

Emirates Golf Club — Majlis Course

Designed by Karl Litten  ·  Par 72  ·  Opened 1988, the first grass course in the Middle East

18-hole championship Hero Dubai Desert Classic — Rolex Series host since 1989

The historic Majlis Course is the spiritual home of professional golf in Dubai, having hosted the Hero Dubai Desert Classic — a prestigious DP World Tour Rolex Series event — since its founding in 1989. The course record of 61 is held by Ernie Els, shot in 1994. Emirates Golf Club also features the Faldo Course, designed by Nick Faldo. The Majlis was ranked by Golf World magazine as one of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World and hosted the 2025 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, a gateway event to the Masters Tournament at Augusta National.

4

Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club

Par 71, 7,009 yards  ·  Opened 1993  ·  Deira, Dubai Creek

18-hole championship DP World Tour — Dubai Invitational host

A historic championship layout where the Dubai Creek influences play on several holes, set beside the iconic sail-shaped clubhouse that has become a landmark of the Dubai skyline. A cornerstone of golf in the region since 1993 and home to the Middle East's first golf academy, the course hosted the DP World Tour's Dubai Invitational. The par-71 layout features gently undulating terrain framed by date palms, water features, and strategic bunkering throughout.

Tier 2: Championship-standard courses

These four courses are 18-hole layouts designed by world-renowned architects and built to a professional standard, but are not currently on an active professional tour rotation. The distinction reflects tournament history only, not design quality or conditioning.

5

Address Montgomerie Dubai

Designed by Colin Montgomerie and Desmond Muirhead  ·  Par 72, 7,300+ yards  ·  Emirates Hills

18-hole championship standard Best New International Course — Links magazine

A links-land style oasis set across 265 acres in the heart of Emirates Hills, featuring 14 lakes, 81 bunkers, and an extraordinary 656-yard 18th hole. The hand-shaped bunker on the 17th hole is a signature Muirhead flourish. One of the Middle East's most highly regarded layouts, it anchors Emirates Hills — widely known as the Beverly Hills of Dubai — and provides the backdrop for some of the most valuable residential real estate in the region.

6

The Els Club Dubai

Designed by Ernie Els  ·  Par 72, 7,538 yards  ·  Victory Heights, Dubai Sports City

18-hole championship standard World's Best Golf Course in Dubai — World Golf Awards 2024

Inspired by the great links courses of the United Kingdom, The Els Club is a masterful desert-links design with wide sandy waste areas, native grasses, and significant elevation changes. Named Best New International Course by Links Golf Magazine in 2008 and Best Golf Course in Dubai multiple times since, it won Dubai's Best Golf Course at the 2024 World Golf Awards and holds the 59club Gold Flag Award for the sixth consecutive year as of 2025. It has also hosted events on the Asian Tour's International Series.

7

Dubai Hills Golf Club

Designed by Gary Johnston of European Golf Design  ·  Par 72  ·  Dubai Hills Estate

18-hole championship standard World's Best New Golf Course 2019

The newest major course in Dubai, set against the Dubai skyline with the Burj Khalifa visible from several holes. Contoured fairways weave through shallow valleys and lakes, with bold bunkering that creates a strong aesthetic and strategic challenge throughout the round. Managed by Troon Golf and awarded World's Best New Golf Course in 2019, it anchors the wider Dubai Hills Estate master development by Emaar and has rapidly established itself as a key golfing destination in the region.

8

Trump International Golf Club Dubai

Designed by Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner  ·  Par 71, 7,205 yards  ·  Damac Hills

A links-style desert layout designed by Gil Hanse, the architect behind the 2016 Olympic golf course in Rio de Janeiro, in partnership with Jim Wagner. Routed across 500 acres of previously flat desert, the course features a cavernous barranca as its backbone, creating significant elevation changes, bold bunkering, and varied risk-reward decisions throughout. It hosts the annual Trump Dubai Summer Open and Trump Dubai Men's Open, attracting top players from across the region, and operates a 30,000 sq.ft clubhouse overlooking the 9th and 18th greens.

Why golf course view villas hold their value in Dubai

Golf course-facing plots in Dubai have consistently outperformed standard community villas in terms of capital appreciation. The key driver is permanence: a golf fairway cannot be built on, which means the view and open space a buyer secures today are protected long-term.

Limited supply. All the major golf communities above are either fully built out or operate within fixed masterplan boundaries. There is no new supply of fairway-facing plots in established communities like Emirates Hills or Jumeirah Golf Estates, which underpins long-term scarcity value.

Tournament prestige adds a halo effect. Communities hosting professional tour events attract international media attention annually. This sustains global awareness of these addresses and supports buyer and tenant demand from a worldwide pool of golf enthusiasts and high-net-worth investors.

Mature landscaping cannot be replicated. Unlike newer developments where trees and greenery are still maturing, established golf communities like Emirates Hills, Jumeirah Golf Estates, and Victory Heights offer decades-old canopy coverage and lush fairways that create an immediate sense of resort-quality living.

Golf course view properties in Emirates Hills saw a 16.1% year-on-year price increase as of September 2025, while premium plots with lake or fairway views continued to attract buyers at between AED 2,000 and AED 4,500 per sq.ft, with exceptional properties exceeding this range. In August 2025, one Emirates Hills villa with golf course and lake views transacted at AED 260 million, representing approximately AED 18,489 per sq.ft of built-up area.
